Reed Vise Refurb

When I found out there was a company named Reed that made vises, I had to have a vise with my name on it. I went on line and quickly found this vintage Reed 1C vise. It has become a workhorse in my shop. It has 3 1/2″ jaws and weighs 54 pounds. The original finish was black japan, so I would date it to the late 1930s. Like most of my vises, it lives on a wooden base because that makes it both stable and easy to move. The moving part is important because it seems that my shop is always being rearranged. I created a step by step chart of the rehab.
